As a trusted London-based removals company, Swift Move is often called upon to handle specialised, fragile, and unusually shaped items. Recently, we were hired by A34 Gates and Garage Doors, a highly regarded provider of handcrafted gates and garage solutions across the West Midlands, to assist with the collection and delivery of a stunning bespoke Accoya driveway gate. The gate was ready for pickup in the beautiful village of Penkridge, and our task was to transport it safely to the customer’s home in Richmond, South West London.
Accoya timber gates are known for their durability, dimensional stability, and refined appearance, which makes them both high in value and delicate in nature. Handling such a premium product required careful planning, precision, and a tailored approach to ensure that it arrived in perfect condition.
Planning the Job
Our coordination with A34 Gates and Garage Doors began with a detailed discussion regarding the size, weight, finish, and construction of the gate. This allowed us to assign the most suitable vehicle—one equipped with appropriate securing points and ample interior space to avoid pressure on any part of the timber structure.
Given the long-distance journey from Penkridge to Richmond, we also mapped out the most efficient route, factoring in road conditions and avoiding uneven or poorly maintained surfaces where possible. This ensured a smooth ride throughout, minimising vibrations and risk of damage.
Careful Collection in Penkridge
Upon arrival in Penkridge, our team carried out a thorough inspection of the gate before loading. The craftsmanship was remarkable—precisely what A34 Gates and Garage Doors are known for—so we took additional care when preparing it for the journey.
Using padded straps, protective sheeting, and reinforced edge guards, the gate was secured upright and immobilised to prevent shifting during transport. Every step of this process was double-checked to guarantee maximum protection.
A Smooth Journey to Richmond
The route from the West Midlands to London is one we know well, and our experience ensured a steady, efficient transit. We maintained regular communication with both A34 Gates and Garage Doors and the receiving client, providing updates on progress and estimated arrival times.
Upon reaching Richmond, we carried out a careful unloading procedure. The gate was inspected once more to confirm that it had arrived in flawless condition. We then positioned it at the homeowner’s request, ready for installation.
